The movie Crazy Rich Asians has grossed $100 million domestically in its third week in release.

This is not a film review. And it contains no spoilers.

There’s a scene in which people are walking into an opulent wedding, and one character mentions that the wedding cost $40 million. The other character responds, dismayed, to the effect that $20 million would have sufficed.

Then adds by way of justification for the half-price wedding, “We’re Methodists!”
