Unplug Standbys — G.E.D., part 5

June 10, 2018

Someone, and I’m embarrassed to admit I’m not sure who it was, sent me a list of simple, practical things to do. (Please scroll down to read the first four on previous Sundays.)With gratitude to that anonymous source, here’s something you and I can do to practice what I’m calling God’s Earth Day (G.E.D.) Living

5. Unplug standbys. Those appliances you’re not using? They still suck up energy. Switch off power strips and unplug chargers, fans, and microwaves whenever you can.

— I’ll tread lightly here.

Sort of.

Those people in your life who “suck up energy” and generally annoy you, bring you stress, and discourage you?

“When you knock on a door, be courteous in your greeting,’ says Christ Jesus in Matthew 10:14. He goes on, “If they welcome you, be gentle in your conversation. If they don’t welcome you, quietly withdraw. Don’t make a scene. Shrug your shoulders and be on your way.” (The Message version)

That’s the interpersonal way to switch them off and unplug them from your life.

You’ll have more energy for those who are willing to benefit from your time and attention.

And that second group includes you yourself.
