Who’s in This Group in Your Church?

May 3, 2018

Rev. Tim Pate is real life friend and colleague who’s the directing pastor at Alton (IL) Main Street United Methodist Church and one darn fine drummer.

In fact, he’s in The Rivers of Life Clergy Band. (Have you booked us to come to your church yet? Contact me, let’s get going on that.)

It was at a recent rehearsal that he mentioned one of his favorite groups in local churches, and it’s with his gracious permission that I share this with you.

The members of this group are usually regular attenders.

They exercise what some perceive as a spiritual gift without hesitation.

And they’re good at what they do.

Tim calls this group Nitpickers for Christ.

Maybe you know some.

If you don’t, be thankful.

If you don’t even understand the name, Nitpickers for Christ, again be thankful.

If you recognize yourself as a faithful member, please consider this instead —

Encourage one another and build each other up.

— 1st Thessalonians 5:11

Maybe you know one or more people who might benefit from that verse; feel free to share this blog with them. If you’re really brave, find a way to say that you read about them today.

Because we could all do with a lot fewer Nitpickers for Christ.
