BONUS BLOG: WHY EMELIE’S MARCHING

I’ve known Emelie Sims Mies since she was a youth and I was an adult and we were on various Projects and Councils and Committees together.

Today she and her husband and  their children are in D.C. to march.

It’s with her gracious permission that I share something here that she wrote last night  —

So on this trip we’ve taken our children to incredible museums, beloved landmarks, innovative universities, and our newlywed apartment.

Tomorrow we’ll march together for safer schools, and I’ll remember their lovely red-haired babysitter slaughtered at Virginia Tech.

This isn’t the world I dreamed of for them when I was a bride out here in Maryland.
