That One Question: “What ARE You Doing Here?” — part 2
I sometimes wish we knew what’s been left out of the Bible, or what’s between the lines.
For example, when this question was asked —
He went into a cave and spent the night.
And the word of the LORD came to him:
“What are you doing here, Elijah?”
— 1st Kings 19:9
— was the emphasis such that it was heard as, “What ARE you doing here?”
Good question. Deserves a good answer.
It’s not about what we used to do….not about what we did even a moment ago.
And it’s not about what we’re going to do someday maybe if certain things happen or don’t happen.
It’s simply not about the past or the future; it’s about that great gift we call the present.
Let’s try it on for size this week.
Let’s listen to God asking us that same question all week long: “What ARE you doing here?”
Let’s ask ourselves that same question this week: “What ARE you doing here?”
It’s already colored and flavored my day as I’ve answered it more than once; may it be a blessing to you as well.
See you back here tomorrow.
