A Catcher’s Mitt on Both Hands
“I’ve learned that you shouldn’t go through life with a catcher’s mitt on both hands,” said Maya Angelou.
She had me right there.
Goofiest baseball image I’ve ever tried to picture: “a catcher’s mitt on both hands” would be tricky to pull off by yourself.
Even trickier to literally pull one of them off your hand by yourself while wearing two catcher’s mitts.
And what are you going to do while wearing two catcher’s mitts besides make silly muffled sounds while clapping?
Ms. Angelou went on, “I’ve learned that you shouldn’t go through life with a catcher’s mitt on both hands; you need to be able to throw something back.”
For example, share your food with the hungry, and give shelter to the homeless. Give clothes to those who need them, and do not hide from relatives who need your help. — Isaiah 58:7
As one of our national treasures pictured it, “I’ve learned that you shouldn’t go through life with a catcher’s mitt on both hands; you need to be able to throw something back.”
What are you going to “throw back” in responsible gratitude today?
