Pick a Prayer
Which one is yours?
All of the following are Psalm 51:10 —.
1. Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
(New International Version)
2. God, create a pure heart in me,
and renew a right attitude within me.
(International Standard Version)
3. Create in me a pure heart, oh God,
and renew your right Spirit within me.
(Aramaic Bible in Plain English)
4. God, make a fresh start in me,
shape a Genesis week from the chaos of my life.
(The Message version)
“All of the above” is not an option. Pick a prayer.
Me?
Number 1 I’m most familiar with.
Number 2 offers the “right attitude” from which actions will spring.
Number 3 asks for God’s own”right Spirit” to be renewed within us.
Each of those brings something different and helpful to the way we taste Psalm 51:10.
But I’m going with number 4.
The prayer request of God to “make a fresh start in me” and “shape a Genesis week” explodes in my spirit and offers the hope of something good coming “from the chaos of my life.”
Yup, I’m going with number 4: God, make a fresh start in me, shape a Genesis week from the chaos of my life.
How about you? Which version of this prayer do you pick to be yours today?
I’d love to hear from you, and sure hope to see you back here tomorrow.
After my last week, 4 spoke to me too!

Because the current climate is shaping my writing again, I must go with 3. Create in me a pure heart, oh God, and renew your right Spirit within me. (Aramaic Bible in Plain English) that I maintain the composure of responding in sound but right minded/Spirit[ed] frame of mind and verbiage.
