Disappearing
“Thomas Merton sometimes spoke of his need to ‘disappear,’ which meant to step back and regather himself,” writes Steve Harper, “to ponder rather than produce.”
Hmmmm.
Maybe that’s the hunger that gnaws at so many of us in so many ways.
“Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest,” says Jesus in Mark 6:31.
Harper continues, “Watch and pray is now a call for me to obey, not a theme for me to write about.”
There’s a balance.
And we’ve lost it.
…and of all the vocations that lend themselves to losing it seems to be the ministry. Well done, my friend!

My balance is off, but not in the direction you would think. I have more than too much time to ponder. The production is down about 85%. I said “more than too much” because the pondering/thinking lends poor quality to the production. Does that make sense?
