Sing to the Lord a new song

 — Psalm 96:1.

You and I have some favorite songs and praise choruses and hymns.

We sing them a lot.

But Psalm 96:1 is clear.  Beyond another oldie moldy goldy, rebound sound, we’re to keep learning and writing and singing new stuff.

Maybe because “New every morning is your love, great God of  light,” as a prayer in our United Methodist Hymnal reminds us.

The old stuff’s good.

The new stuff’s necessary.
