Too Busy
I was too busy “serving God”
and doing church work
to pay enough attention to my dying brother.
So wrote friend and pastoral colleague Joshua Johnson, who graciously gave me permission to share this with you.
His brother Mike died at age 30 of brain cancer.
Joshua’s confession comes as a warning to many, if not most, of us: I was too busy “serving God” and doing church work to pay enough attention to my dying brother.
If you have ears, listen. (Matt. 11:15)
And be doers of the word, not hearers only. (James 1:22)
So…what do you need to do today?
And what do you need to stop doing in order to do that?
I’ve heard too many sad versions of this story. All reading this should remember this…self included.
