Second, Keep Calm and Love On

Second, choose not to live in fear.
The church and our nation need to hear the simple yet world-changing message “Keep Calm and Love On.”
St. John reminded persecuted followers of Jesus then – and perplexed American followers of Jesus now – that, “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love” (1 John 4:18).
Choose to love when others choose to hate.
Remember the prophetic words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
Church, it is the real love of Jesus that makes a difference.
Amen.
