What Erin Said Last Night

May 11, 2016

“There is no better time to do good than right now,” Erin said.

Erin Hawkins was speaking in an opening part of  General Conference 2016 of The United Methodist Church. She chairs our General Commission on Race and Religion. She was simply ON, and I hope her presentation will be archived and available somewhere online.

She packed a lot into those eleven words: “There is no better time to do good than right now.” She said much more, but that sentence right there laid me out on a slab; I got my money’s worth right there.

What are we waiting for?

“There is no better time to do good than right now.”

Christ Jesus, in Matthew 28‘s ending, is still our beginning: “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Let’s go. “There is no better time to do good than right now.”
