Yup. It’s a Monday.

April 25, 2016

It used to be a new song. Now it’s a classic.

It used to be part of Contemporary Christian Music. Now it’s An Oldie Moldy Goldie. A Rebound Sound. A Blast From the Past. —

“Lord, prepare me

to be a sanctuary,

pure and holy,

tried and true.

With thanksgiving,

I’ll be a living

Sanctuary

For you.”

— If you know that song, you probably sang those words in your head rather than just reading them. Catchy melody, great lyrics. And you just might have heard the word “Sanctuary” in your head like this: “Sank – chew – AIRRRR – ree.” I know I did.

Our Clergy Band wanted to add this to the sing-along portion of a Set List.

(By the way, have you booked us to come play at your church or festival or other event? We’re The Rivers of Life Clergy Band, and yes we’re all working pastors, and you can find us on Facebook simply as Rivers of Life. Been together 6 years. Would love to come to your place. And we’re still free. Contact me for details.)

Okay, back to where we were. Our Clergy Band wanted to add this song. Someone brought in more lyrics to it, including a part that was new to the rest of us. We were so enamored with the new part that we didn’t notice a typo —-

“Lord, prepare me

to be a sanctuary,

pure and holy,

tired and true.”

— Yup. It’s a Monday, and “tired and true” sounds about right. Am I the only one?
