To Be a Christian in The 21st Century
“To be a Christian in the 21st century means….”
How would you complete that sentence? Please take a moment and finish it.
No, really, please do that sentence completion before reading any further.
I’ll wait here.
…Okay, I’m trusting you to have done that.
Here’s what Meagan Findeiss wrote in an ad for Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Texas in the current issue of The Christian Century —
“To be a Christian in the 21st century means
to demonstrate Christ’s love through action:
to stand up for a neighbor being mistreated,
to shine in the darkness
through non-verbal and verbal responses,
and to shower others with loving kindness.”
Meagan lives in Orange Park, Florida.
And by the way, she’s a middle school student.
Join me in celebrating Christian youth like her. I’m certain they’re in all of our churches.
They’re living 1st Timothy 4:12, Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example.
Watch for ways this week to encourage the Meagans in your life.
