The Gates of Hell
And I tell you, you are Peter,
and on this rock I will build my church,
and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

It’s easy to find statistics to prove that the Church is on the decline globally.
You and and I can even share stories about this trend.
It’s easy to get discouraged about the direction things seem to be going.
But we too often forget that Christ established his Holy Church with the flamboyant and mercurial St. Peter.
And then with his very next breath, Christ gave us this prediction and promise: the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
So, is the Church dying, or are we once again just morphing?
I believe the latter.
I believe Christ’s promise that the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Yes, with you, I believe the latter!!! I think the church just may return to the roots John Wesley established in small groups of the faithful few as Christ and the Bible as their structure. Not in hiding, but strengthening their Faith making that Light on the Hill shine brighter. (Know what I mean?)
