Three Words, part 2.

God is love.

Those three words are simple, obvious, and yet somehow easy to forget.

God is love, says 1st John 4:8.

Yesterday we agreed to stand firm on the foundation that God is love. We were going to live into the biblical truth that God is love.

How’d that go for you?

If you’re like many of the rest of us, you found that those three words are only the beginning, even if they do come at the end of the entire verse: Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

The context and implications here are huge.

Later in the same chapter: The command we have from Christ is blunt: Loving God includes loving people. You’ve got to love both. (1st John 4:21)

Who just came into your mind as being someone easy to love? Be thankful.

But just to mind as someone you find difficult to love? Be aware: Loving God includes loving people. You’ve got to love both.
