Insanity’s End
Then let us, with the Spirit’s daring,
Step from the past and leave behind,
Our disappointment, guilt, and grieving,
Seeking new paths, and sure to find.
— This Is a Day of New Beginnings, verse 3,
The United Methodist Hymnal, p. 383
How’s that go again, the old kinda-kidding definition of Insanity?
Something about “doing the same thing,” right?
Oh that’s right — “doing the same thing but expecting a different result.”
Enough of that.
It’s time today to do what this song says. Time today to step from the past and boldly live into God’s present.
What attitudes and/or behaviors will you leave behind today?
By the grace of God, may we jettison unhealthy disappointment, guilt, and grieving.
Not easy. But you’re worth the effort.
Thanks be unto God: this really is A Day of New Beginnings!
