Where’s This Extravagance Leading?
Where we were yesterday —
St. Paul wrote, We don’t yet see things clearly. We’re squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won’t be long before the weather clears, and we’ll see it all then, as clearly as God sees us.” (1st Corinthians 13:12)
You know those people in our lives, the ones who annoy us? And even the ones we love? There’s something missing in our perceptions of them.
What can help us see and understand them better? Again, St. Paul: For right now, we have three things to do: Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of these three is love. (1st Corinthians 13:13)
Extravagant love is what this calls us to.
To do.
And to be.
Way more than a fun feeling, extravagant love is what brought Christ to us.
John 3:16 starts how again? “For God so loved the world that God gave.”
Whoa. Serious stuff.
If you and I love extravagantly, where’s that gonna take us today?
