Just Because I Can’t
Make a joyful noise to the Lord
Psalm 100:1
Where and when and with whom will you sing this weekend?

LOL Brings back a few memories! When I was in high school, I was able to be in choir. The legendary Dr. Leonard Van Camp of SIUE was the choir director of our humble choir at St. John’s. (Back then, if you wanted to be in the choir, and you were a freshman in high school or over, you could join he choir. I understand that to be in the choir at St. John’s now, you have to try out. John Wesley would NOT approve.) At the beginning of the first choir rehearsal in the fall, Dr. Van Camp would hand out hymnals and have us turn to John Wesley’s rules for singing. Wesley was definitely a proponent of “Make(ing) a Joyful Noise unto the Lord”!! I also remember there was a little lady that I sat next to, who had Parkinson-like tremors. Like me, she was a first soprano and her hands weren’t the only muscles with tremors. Now, hearing that there are things such as auditions for choirs, I appreciate that little lady even more than I did Dr. Van Camp never saying a word and he was a perfectionist. I can remember another member, in particular, when sitting in the congregation anywhere in front of them was cringeworthy, but you had to smile at the force with which they belted out the hymns, Just a couple of those your little picture brought back.
