I was married to a fireman, I stood next to him and watched the towers pancake and felt his physical pain through brotherhood and felt the breath knocked out of me as well as I turned and said, “There are fire, police, and paramedics in there.” It was redundant and didn’t cover near the numbers or employment types, but, like you, there were no words. I scrambled to come up with about 900 of them for a column later that week.
Yet in the darkness small lights of Gods love shine through.
