Fireworks Inside in The Dark
Ya know those fireworks? Even the the ones that were annoying you over the weekend? Check out what my friend Lisa Radliff wrote. Her husband Brian’s another one of my UMYF guys, now an officer in the US Air Force, and she’s phenomenal in her own right. For example (and it’s with her permission that I share this with you) —
Last night with the little grands already in bed and the fireworks booming overhead, instead of going outside to watch, I stayed inside in the dark. As I listened to the booming I thought of our forefathers, how this sound was not a celebration but was war.
How citizens rose to fight for their country while their families were left at home to fight a different but same battle.
How the mothers would’ve been huddling their kiddos through the night listening to these “sounds of freedom”. How scary this actually would’ve been.
I felt more appreciative of their bravery and courage last night than in all the years watching the lights.
—And all the rest of us thank you and Brian and y’all’s family for your service.
WOW, just wow! Our neighbors are on vacation and someone has been house-sitting the past several days. They decided two in the morning would be the best time to shoot off some heavy duty fireworks. Naturally, the rest of the neighborhood was in bed. I thought a shotgun had gone off and my son was down here thinking the same that was the 3rd. Apparently they only had a couple and got a few more for the 4th, but their timing was again the early morning hours of the 5th when the neighborhood was slumbering. Again, I was sure someone had been shot! I couldn’t have said what she said better! I thank Brian and Lisa and family, along with all military and families for their service!

This was excellent. I think I will remember remember this on every July Fourth in the future. This year I also stayed inside with a little guy. Thank you for sharing.
