Showing Jesus Our ID Cards

May 28, 2015

“A thief is only there

to steal and kill and destroy,”

he said.

“I came so they can have

real and eternal life,

more and better life

than they ever dreamed of.”

 — John 10:10, The Message Version

Jesus began this way: “Let me set this example before you as plainly as I can.” (John 10:1)

He made it simple.

Five verses later, they showed their ID cards. “Jesus told this simple story, but they had no idea what he was talking about.” (John 10:6)

If we’re honest, the pictures on their ID cards looked a lot like you and me. Sometimes we can be clueless about what’s God’s making obvious.

Worse, we can take the simply beautiful things of God and complicate them. Sometimes beyond recognition.

Today, let’s pay attention to God’s plain and loving messages that come our way.

I’d love to hear what all you notice today, and I’ll see you back here tomorrow!

OK, let’s start with your statement, “Worse, we can take the simply beautiful things of God and complicate them. Sometimes beyond recognition.” I am not sure if it was me making it difficult or not. However, I have my New King James and interpreting it with the message, often makes no sense and I keep going back and forth between the two.

Today, there were/are no simple answers for the problems here. It makes it tough to look up and notice the messages. I am trying. I have learned something valuable though!
