Close Enough? Monday #2
Over a series of 6 Mondays, we’re thinking together about this —
Don’t just do the minimum that will get you by.
Do your best.
Work from the heart for your real Boss, for God.
You’ll get paid in full when you come into your inheritance.
Keep in mind always that the ultimate Boss you’re serving is Christ.
The sullen servant who does shoddy work will be held responsible.
Being a follower of Jesus doesn’t cover up bad work.
— Colossians 3
“Close enough.”
I’ve heard those words used in the context of jobs or projects, usually like this: “Close enough for government work.” Haha.
Or I’ve heard those words in bands as we tuned up: “Close enough for jazz.” Again, haha.
“Close enough” is kinda like “good enough” but you and I know that neither really are.
By contrast, Scripture gives us this advice: Do your best.
I’d appreciate your prayers that I do precisely that as I go through this week, and I’d like to be praying for you as well.
Do your best. What’s that going to look like for you this week?
