I Don’t Remember What I Was Complaining About: A Prayer Request from a Friend in Venezuela
From a United Methodist seminary friend —
Please pray for Venezuela.
Minimum wage is now $33/month, the only country in the Western Hemisphere which is lower is Cuba.
Yet the church is growing at a rate only rivaled by Cuba.
God is blessing God’s people in Venezuela in spite of the financial hardships.
Yet our hearts break for how difficult everyday life is for the people of Venezuela. Yesterday a friend posted waiting in line 6 hours to buy diapers, and one is required to have the baby with them to qualify.
Another friend can’t find a house for he and his new bride. Another spends 5 days a week just standing in lines to buy essentials for his family.
Yet they find a way to get to the Seminary, to pay the modest tuition, to do door to door evangelism, to feed the hungry, visit the imprisoned, to heal the sick.
— Suddenly I don’t remember what it was that I was complaining about earlier today. Pray for Venezuela. Join me in praying for forgiveness. Let’s pray for their spirit. Pray.
Thank you, Joe. Our hearts break for the people of Venezuela who daily face challenges we cannot even comprehend in the U.S. Knowing them has greatly enriched my life, minimized my “gripe gene” and created in me both a deep thankfulness and a new awareness if the demands of Christian stewardship.
