Those Who Know It

November 12, 2014

“There’s always something new there, every time.”

We were in our DISCIPLE 2 Bible Study last night.  The lesson was on the Messiah material found in Luke’s version of the Gospel.

As we were running out of time, someone around the table said, “We go over this every year in Advent.”

Another person immediately added, “But not everybody does.”

Someone who hadn’t spoken much in the previous 90 minutes said, “And there’s always something new there, every time.”

I invited the group to turn to number 156 in their hymnals and sing just verse 4 before our closing prayer.  We sang,

I love to tell the story,

for those who know it best,

seem hungering and thirsting

to hear it like the rest;

and when in scenes of glory,

I sing the new, new song,

’twill be the old, old story

that I have loved so long.

I love to tell the story,

’twill be my theme in glory,

to tell the old, old story,

of Jesus and His love.

It’s true: those who know it best, seem hungering and thirsting to hear it like the rest.

What are you doing today to satisfy your hunger and thirst for more of Christ?
