Wanna Live Longer?

August 17, 2014

Wanna live longer?

Cardiologist Makoto Suzuki is originally from Tokyo, now lives on Okinawa and has written two New York Times bestsellers.  An expert on longevity, he expectedly stresses the importance of diet and exercise.

But there’s more.

He also cites intangibles like “self-help and mutual help,”

But wait, there’s more.

Dr. Suzuki says, “A person must have a reason to live: being a member of your family or community.”

That sounds familiar, no pun intended.  In church we like to talk about “our church family” and “our “community of faith.”

Much more might be said about this, but for now it’s Sunday and I’m certain there’s a church gathering not far from where you are for worship and Sunday School…do yourself and your life expectancy a favor and get there.

If it’s too late by the time you’re reading this, plan now for next Sunday.

Get with people who can help you “have a reason to live,” as Dr. Suzuki advises.  Your participation in a healthy church’s “family or community” can help you live longer.
