Listening to What?
A basic tenet of communication is that it’s a two part experience.
One part is the sending of the message, and the other is the reception.
In simple terms, a speaker and a listener.
Charles Wesley wrote this about God and us —
He speaks, and, listening to His voice,
New life the dead receive,
The mournful, broken hearts rejoice,
The humble poor believe.
If you and I aren’t living new life today, and if our sadness doesn’t eventually become rejoicing, and if our belief isn’t getting stronger, maybe it’s partly because we’re not listening to His voice.
What’s drowning it out for you today?
