Gail Passed Me a Note in Band

Gail passed me a note in band.

At least that’s what I thought she was doing.

This past Sunday morning, as The Hallelujah Horns were warming up before the final service of the weekend, flute player Gail slid something over onto the stand with my trumpet music.

Turned out it was a birthday card.  With a cartoon on the front.  A funny one.  A very funny one.

On the back of the card was a long paragraph about the cartoonist, Cuyler Black.  (Yes, I’ve checked the spelling of his first name several times, and it’s Cuyler.)  An almost unbelievable “son of a seventh-generation minister,” this youth minister says one of  his favorite Bible verses is Genesis 21:6.

Like me, you might not have Genesis memorized that far yet, so I’ll help us both:

God has brought me laughter.

Like me, you might have just  memorized another favorite Bible verse.
