The Joys Thereof

“Almighty God,

you give us the joy of celebrating our Lord’s resurrection.

Give us also the joys of life in your service,

and bring us at last to the full joy of life eternal;

through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.”

“Life eternal” isn’t something I want to rush into today, do you?

Yet I sure like the way this prayer asks God to “bring us at last to the full joy of life eternal.”

Good goal.

But let’s not rush it.

Today, let’s just get busy with “the joy of celebrating our Lord’s resurrection” and “the joys of life in (Christ’s) service.”

To paraphrase Jesus, “Sufficient unto the day are the joys thereof!”
