Try

March 12, 2014

I was writing a message to a friend, but my fingers weren’t cooperating.

The word rest was my intention, but whatever garbled word was onscreen was immediately auto-corrected.

To the word try.

Which made me chuckle as I flashed to Yoda’s line in “Star Wars,” when he says to Luke, “Do… or do not. There is no try.”

Hitting delete and again attempting to key in rest, I again saw it auto-corrected to try.

Fingers off the keys, I leaned back.

Try.  Rest.

Okay, got it.  Let’s you and me find a way this second Wednesday in Lent to get some Sabbath time, some restorative rest time.

I know a United Methodist Church that’s having the community’s beloved Fr. Ralph from the local Roman Catholic hospital as the guest speaker at 12:15 and 6:15 today.  Maybe I’ll see you there.
