John’s Confirmation Verse

Yesterday was the funeral of a friend’s dad.  I was honored to sit with his family and friends for this celebration of a man’s life.

The church was packed and the stories told were fun.  Pictures and memorabilia were on display as silent testimonies to his life’s depth and diversity.  His was a life well-lived.

When the pastor began the message, I was reminded of a tradition John’s denomination has that would benefit us all: “John’s Confirmation Verse was Psalm 37:4, ‘Delight yourself in the Lord, and he shall give you the desires of your heart.'”  As his pastor told of John’s life, it was amazing to see how this verse had continued to be a shaping influence long past the day of his Confirmation.
