This Isn’t in The Bible
Zacchaeus, famous in part because of that Bible School song you’re probably singing in your head right now, lived to be an old man, according to a story that’s not in The Bible.
People knew he got up early every day and left his house. He filled a bucket with water and walked across town to a sycamore tree.
Putting the bucket down, he began to pull up weeds, pick up debris that was lying around the tree trunk, and generally tidy up the area. Then he watered the tree.
After years of this same daily habit, someone finally asked him why he did this.
“This is where Christ and I met.”
That story’s not in the Bible, but it sure is good.
