Now Thy Gracious Freedom Bring

December 4, 2013

Yesterday at the Assisted Living Center during Bible Study, I had another one of those “Did I really just say that?!” moments.

This one happened while we were singing Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus.

The second verse includes the line, “born to reign in us forever, now thy gracious kingdom bring.”

Imagine my surprise when I heard it come out this way: “born to reign in us forever, now thy gracious freedom bring.”

Kingdom of Christ and freedom and the grace of God.  Mash ’em together and it sure sounds like what some used to call Sanctification.

Or a gracious reign of freedom in Christ.

I think I like the direction this is going.
