Happiness
It’s said that Ghandi read Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount every day for most of his adult life.
I invited you last week to meet the rest of us at Matthew 5, the start of the Sermon on the Mount.
How far did you get? The first dozen verses are an introduction and The Beatitudes. Those “Blessed” phrases are among the best-known of that chapter.
They’re also probably among the hardest to grasp and apply, because they’re so counter-cultural.
They’re even counter-self-centered-ness. But they’re about “Happiness,” which is just as accurate a translation as is “Blessed.” Try going back through The Beatitudes, Matthew 5:3-12, and using the phrase “Happy are…” and see where that leads you.
Then comes the next section: Matthew 5:13-16. See you back here soon.
