She Cared
I’ve been asked about the person I mentioned here yesterday.
She was a teacher, surrogate grandparent, and mentor.
She influenced way more people than just me.
We called her Frau Kuhn, at her request.
She was a demanding instructor who took time with us.
Some of the best class times were in her office with three students present for a Guided Study.
Other key moments were with her and her husband on a tour of Martin Luther sites in what were then The Two Germanys.
Still more good stuff happened in letters and phone conversations over several decades.
She brought a Scripture verse to life: We love because God first loved us. (1st John 4:19)
For whom will you and I take that kind of time today?
In many instances, it’s as simple as taking the time to be with someone.
Whoever they are, know that they’re worth the effort.
I learned that from Frau Kuhn.
She cared.
