Ready to Give Up
She was a hard teacher.
Yet she was my favorite professor in college.
She and her husband, who oddly enough taught me in graduate school, took me under their proverbial wing at a significant time. Some would they became surrogate grandparent figures.
“Keep on keeping on,” she’d say, leaving me nodding and smiling. And wondering what she was talking about.
I think I’m beginning to understand.
“Not that I have arrived already, but I keep moving forward,” is how St. Paul put the same kind of advice in Philippians 3:12.
When I get discouraged and ready to give up, I hear that dedicated college instructor’s four words: “Keep on keeping on.”
Time to take deep breath and keep moving forward.
