Build Nothing That Will Not Last
They followed their own advice.
The Presbyterian Church of Rariton, Illinois was honored at the recent State Historical Society’s Sesquicentennial Church Celebration.
Among other details from their past, one in particular drew an appreciative nod from the crowd.
In 1855, the Presbyterians in Rariton were planning to begin construction of their church building.
Their governing body established some guidelines.
“Build nothing that will not last” was chief among them.
Today the congregation meets in that same structure, and maintains it with the respect due their 1855 Presbyterian sisters and brothers in Christ.
You and I would do well to follow that advice as well: “Build nothing that will not last.”
