Water: 100% of Your Dollar

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote this at the end of a blog:  ,,,pray a prayer of gratitude for such easy access to clean water.  But more about that later.

Now it’s later.

According to water.org —

— More people have a mobile phone than a toilet

— Lack of access to clean water and sanitation kills children

at a rate equivalent of a jumbo jet crashing every four hours

 — [The water and sanitation] crisis claims more lives

through disease than any war claims through guns.

Perhaps the worst part of this is the simplicity of a solution.  The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR.org) says, “About 80 percent of illnesses are linked to poor water and sanitation conditions.  UMCOR builds latrines and hand-washing stations so that people can live healthier lives. We always couple these efforts with education about how to prevent the spread of disease.”
