“Death has lost its old dominion,

let the world rejoice and shout!

Christ, the firstborn of the living,

gives us life and leads us out.

Let us thank our God , who causes

hope to spring up from the ground.

Christ is risen, Christ is giving

life eternal, life profound.”

— verse 3 of Christo Vive (Christ is Risen)

These words, again from a song in our hymnal I don’t remember ever singing, are much-needed reminders this week.  They also bring a delightful spin to the Gospel; we’ll get there tomorrow.

For today let’s notice the 3rd and 4th lines: “Christ, the firstborn of the living, gives us life and leads us out.”

Two truths and two questions:

1. Christ gives, but we have to accept the gift.

What difference will it make today for you to accept this”life” the Resurrected Christ wants to give you?

2. Christ leads, but we have to follow.

Where will your following the Resurrected Christ today as he “leads us out” take you?

I’d love to hear from you, and look forward to savoring a fresh facet of the Gospel with you here tomorrow.
