It’s After Easter in Boston Today, Too
“When our hearts are wintry, grieving, or in pain,
Jesus’ touch can call us back to life again,
fields of our hearts that dead and bare have been:
Love is come again, like wheat that springeth green.”
— verse 4 of Now the Green Blade Riseth
Another horrific bombing yesterday afternoon brings another round of angry and painful questions today.
A powerful ad from The United Methodist Church last night shows a totally dark background, two hands together in prayer, and these words: “Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Boston.”
This fourth verse of the next Easter song in our hymnal reminds us that in the midst of our grief and pain, the Resurrected Christ reaches out to our broken, “wintry” hearts.
Usually that touch which “can call us back to life again” comes from people reaching out in His name.
Where do you need to reach out like that, or from whom is that touch coming to you today?
It’s after Easter in Boston today, too.
