Shamrocks and More

March 18, 2013

St. Patrick was the topic of our Children’s Sermon yesterday.

Kathy briefly told the group St. Patrick’s life story.   She gave all of us sitting on the floor with her a bright yellow card with a shamrock sticker.  She said that he used the shamrock and its three leaves to teach about the connected-ness of The Holy Trinity, which was brilliant.

Also on the bright yellow card are the words of a short prayer attributed to St. Patrick.  It’s called “Prayer for the Faithful” and it goes like this —

“May the Strength of God guide us,

May the Power of God preserve us,

May the Wisdom of God instruct us,

May the Hand of God protect us,

May the Way of God direct us,

May the Shield of God defend us,

May the Angels of God guard us,

Again the snares of the evil one.

May Christ be with us!

May Christ be before us!

Christ be over all!

May Christ be in us!

May Thy Grace, Lord, always be ours,

This day, O Lord, and forever more.

Amen.”

And amen!
