“Please Forgive Me: #1 of The Most Important Things”
“Please forgive me.”
“‘Please forgive me’ and ‘I forgive you’ can be the toughest two of the Four Things to say,” Ira Byock writes in The Four Things That Matter Most. “And yet few of us will live a full life without the need to say both.”
You and I have heard that somewhere before. “Forgive us…as we forgive others,” Jesus teaches us to pray in Matthew 6:12.
This is serious stuff. “Forgiveness is often at the heart of completing relationships and finding peace,” Byock says.
Additionally, Byock seems to suggest that all four statements are of equal significance and are interwoven. Let’s pick up there tomorrow.
Meanwhile, two questions for action today:
1. From whom do you need to ask forgiveness today?
2. How will you start that conversation?
