That’s What Judy Said about Anger. Part 3 of 5
Our “Being There” group, one of Centenary’s Wonderful Wednesday opportunities, had a guest speaker this week.
It’s with her permission that I share these lines from my notes of what she said.
Speaking of anger, this is what Judy said —
“Anger is almost always a secondary emotion.
Look for the hurt behind the anger,
because anger is often just the acceptable release.”
That was met by our group with a pause, some slow nods and some tears.
There’s a lot to process in those lines. There’s a lot of life that re-surfaces as you and I consider what Judy said.
No need to hurry along here; take your time.
Then when you’re ready, consider this: “Don’t sin by letting anger control you, and don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry,” says the Bible in Ephesians 4:26.
That turns me back towards this:
“Anger is almost always a secondary emotion.
Look for the hurt behind the anger,
because anger is often just the acceptable release.”
That’s what Judy said about anger, and I believe she’s right.
So much wisdom in that statement! If only we could remember that as we experience everyday life.
