No One is Having Any Fun
“I realized that I don’t dislike flying–I dislike airports,” writes Seth Godin. “There are so many things we can learn from what they do wrong.”
He is a business consultant who writes a stimulating blog at sethgodin.typepad.com.
Today Seth posted a list of “Eleven Things Organizations Can Learn from Airports,” subtitled “of course, this isn’t actually about airports.”
We can learn a lot from what Seth says today. Despite tired old jokes like “I don’t belong to an organized religion, I’m a United Methodist,” our churches are organizations.
Number 11 on his list is “No one is having any fun. Most people who work at airports have precisely the same demeanor as people who work at a cemetery.”
By contrast, Psalm 122:1 says, “I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go to the house of the Lord.'”
Which fits?
I’ll say it again: we can learn something from what Seth says today.
