“God is great, God is good. Let us thank God for our food.”
Miss Lois, on tv’s Romper Room show, taught me those words while I sat in my child-sized rocking chair.
That morning’s breakfast might have been fixed by my mom or my dad or Mrs. Sanders, the lady who stayed with me when they were at work, but the food was originally from God.
Now I know to address God with phrases like “Source of all joy and goodness” and “Giver of all good gifts.”
But what I learned from Miss Lois still fits. God is still great. God is still good. God is still a giver.
Try subsitituting other words for “food.” For example, “God is great, God is good. Let us thank God for our warm, safe place to be on this cold day.”
Your turn. “God is great, God is good. Let us thank God for ______________.”
How do you finish that sentence today?
