Miss Lois Taught Me This

Miss Lois taught me something about prayer on her Romper Room show.

It began, “God is great.”

The pre-school version of me, sitting in my footie jammies with cereal and milk spilled on my plaid robe, was learning significant theology from Miss Lois: “God is great.”

I wasn’t the only one.  Several years ago, a major denomination asked its members for their favorite hymns and worship songs, and “How Great Thou Art” topped the list.

There are worse ways to begin thinking about God than what Miss Lois taught.

Today, let’s remember and remind each other of those three profoundly simple words: “God is great.”
