Growing Faith and Understanding Together

We finished up our 2012 Advent Bible Studies this Tuesday and Wednesday.

Four weeks with five different groups covering supposedly the same lesson each week.  Pastor Leanne and I were amazed at the diversity of discussion.

Several times we were all swimming at the deep end of the pool, trying to connect the various disparate elements of what one writer calls The Infancy Narratives.

Some times the blunt reality of it all was unavoidable.

Perhaps most exciting was the scrutiny given God’s Word.  Parts of what we studied called into question some long-held assumptions and even a few beliefs.

I think that’s healthy.  The God of the Bible can withstand our questions.

Faith and understanding can grow together.

Our wonderings can help us sink roots deeper.

Our ponderings can be productive.

God is still in business.
