Why Bother? Here’s Why Craig Does.

November 16, 2012

Craig Wise is a hero of mine.

He’s retiring after wildly successful decades in a career he’s enjoyed.

But he’s not giving up something he loves even more: being a football referee and baseball official.

And here’s why he’s so good at what he does: “It doesn’t matter the level of the ballgame that I’m officiating.  That game is the important one for those kids.  So I give a full 100 percent for those games.”

You and I will have chances today to live that same way.  What will we do?

It’s our call.

Thanks, Pastor Joe, for a positive illustration about Craig’s integrity. He possesses one of the most stable and committed work-ethics I’ve ever witnessed. Regardless of the challenges awaiting him at work, I’d say, “Have a good day, honey!” and he’d sincerely reply, “Everyday’s a good day!”
No sarcasm in his tone, as it would have been if I’d said it!
Since he’s the only person I’ve known in my lifetime that had perfect attendance in high school, I now consider it the gold standard when reviewing resumes and conducting interviews. Some applicants have added that information and it stands out because it is rare.

He exemplifies the scripture, “Work, as if unto the Lord.”
