“More Than Words Can Say” — This I Know, #10 of 11

“We know that we belong to the truth”

— 1st John 3:19

Great promise here!

But let’s put it in its orginal context.

That verse starts and ends like this: “This then is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence.”

Sounds even better!

But let’s put it in its orignal context.

Reaching back two verses, we read this:

“If anyone has material possessions

and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him,

how can the love of God be in him? 

Let us not love with words but with actions and in truth. 

This then is how we know that we belong to the truth,

and how we set our hearts at rest in God’s presence.” 

(1st John 3:17-19)
