Who Invited My Enemies?

October 14, 2012

“…in the presence of my enemies.” —Psalm 23:5

Yesterday we thought together about a banquet.

The rest of that sentence, Psalm 23:5, tells where that banquet takes place  and who else is there: “in the presence of my enemies.”

I love the reality of The Bible.  It doesn’t pretend.  You and I have enemies.  We have people who wish us ill and who want to do us harm.

But how’d they get into this banquet?!

Are they here to ruin everything, or are they here to watch with envy as we enjoy the feast?

Or are they among the invited guests, just like we are?

Is this a call to reconciliation?

I’m betting it is that call to reconciliation. CTR-in-training, for me, is planning each class reunion with those that haven’t divested themselves of childish things (even almost 40 years later). I won’t be deterred from making the event parameters everyman/woman-friendly!
